Tainted Waters

The river in {0} has acquired a sickly sheen, and a noxious odor to match. It seems likely that the cause is the men and women of industry, dumping their waste - everything from butcher's offal to blacksmith's ashes – into the no-longer-crystal waters. It is these same waters that many souls in {0} drink and bathe in, which would explain the high level of illness amongst both people and livestock of late. The people look to you for aid, while the traders and artisans worry that alternative measures will be too costly to endure. Which, then, is the higher calling – our economy or wellbeing?
